Advanced Allergy Services, LLC is a specialized medical practice dealing with unique allergic or immunologic diseases. These unique diseases require detailed treatments that involve extended time, effort and management on the part of our physicians.
These specific health problems may include:
Human Seminal Plasma Hypersensitivity – this problem occurs when the female develops allergic antibodies to one or more seminal plasma proteins they are coming in contact with from their sexual partner.
Extreme Food Allergies – Food Challenges – food allergy is increasing in the United States for unknown reasons. Similarly, many other health problems are attributed to food allergies incorrectly. It is important to identify whether specific symptoms and/or reactions are due to the production of specific allergic antibodies to a food protein or not. Food skin and/or serologic testing in conjunction with controlled food challenges are required to confirm or exclude a food allergy.
Special Metal/Patch Testing – A variety of metals including nickel, cobalt, chromium and titanium are being used in prosthetic devices (knee, hip replacements…). Contact dermatitis to nickel and cobalt are well established. It is essential to perform special patch testing to ingredients used in joint replacements (including metals and glues) to ensure that patients requiring these procedures will not develop metal sensitivity reactions post-operatively.
Penicillin Testing - Penicillin allergy is commonly reported resulting in physicians prescribing alternative antibiotics that are often more expensive and more broad-spectrum making antibiotic resistance more likely. We have major and minor penicillin determinants available for penicillin skin testing which will allow determination of whether or not a patient actually has a penicillin allergy. This testing is especially important for patients with multiple drug allergies who are confused about what antibiotics they can safely tolerate should they develop a bacterial infection.
